Ankle Update and Anna Meg

Hey all...

Since we've been receiving requests, I thought I would update you on the ankle situation.

Friday, March 21 - first Physical Therapy (PT) appointment. She gave me non-weight bearing mobility exercises to do the first week. Mostly this appointment was reassuring from the aspect of "yes, it's supposed to feel like that", etc. Because, when you've been off your foot for 2 months and now have seven screws and a six inch plate in there... you forget what it was like. Apparently in mind and body.

Monday, March 24 - followup with the surgeon and xrays. Amen! It's healing and that is a huge gift. A gift that Duane basically gave me b/c he's been running the whole stinkin' show for the past eight weeks. Got permission to go 25% weight-bearing which basically means I put my foot on the floor and kept on doing my exercises getting the flow back.

Thursday, March 27 - Duane came to pick me up and I was feeling particularly feisty so I asked him if I could drive home. He said yes, I did and the next day I drove my very-own-self into work!!! Whoo-hooo!!!!

Monday, March 31 - second PT appointment. Got permission for 50% weight-bearing! YES, LORD! I've gotten kind of tuckered out the past couple of days, but being up on my crutches and able to balance myself does LOADS for my self-esteem. I did not realize how sick of the wheelchair I'd been.

So, slow it goes but its all progress. Certainly doesn't feel like it's been - yep - eight weeks today. Again, like almost all in life, terribly slow during and now seems to have gone incredibly fast.

If you read this blog at all, then you know about Anna Meg. Her caringbridge site is on the top of our Favorites on the right there. We have coveted your prayers for her as her and her family was on a challenging journey this past year-plus. If you have any interest at all, please do go back and read Nate and Lisa's journal. It's a testimony to the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord in all that comes our way.

Anna passed away on Saturday, March 29 at home. Nate and Lisa's prayers were always, ALWAYS for healing but if the Lord must take her that He would do so quickly and mercifully. He did so. Arrangements are for this weekend, so as you pray, please continue to lift up Nate and Lisa and Zach... now and whenever you think of them in the future... as they will need those prayers, I imagine, forever.
